a season for growing

carolyn and i love to watch our seeds sprout…we count them in the first few weeks of spring. then, we watch them grow and wait, patiently, for rain to nurture them.

we always plant our seeds in whatever we can find…the spinach found its way into a flat cardboard box that just happen to be from a case of schlitz malt liquor that was brought to our house the day our friend eddie died. when i was photographing our little plants and all their progress, i couldn’t help but think how life was growing out of that box that mourned his death. i am reminded of him so often…and how he taught us how to open our hearts and pour out love for the broken and afflicted. he taught us that hope can come out of dark places.

oh yes, and…our garden.

those are cherries…in my front yard.
